Lyman Briggs College is proud to announce that Kierra Jursch was nominated by MSU for the U.S. Rhodes Scholarship and Tammy Thai was nominated for the McCall MacBain Scholarship.

Clausell Mathis, assistant professor of physics and physics education in Michigan State University’s Lyman Briggs College and Department of Teacher Education, has been named a Winter 2026 Fellow of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT). He is one of only two educators nationwide to receive this honor.

Meet Caroline Beckrow — a compassionate, community-oriented senior from Stevensville, Michigan, whose journey through MSU has been filled with purpose, gratitude and exploration. Majoring in Human Biology and Social Relations & Policy, Caroline is a proud member of the Honors College, James Madison College and Lyman Briggs College.

"Each year, approximately 150 Lyman Briggs College students pursue Education Abroad experiences throughout the world ... Upon returning, students frequently describe their time abroad as life-changing. Immersed in new cultures and communities, students not only gain global perspectives but also strengthen essential life skills such as adaptability, self-confidence, problem-solving, and effective communication," writes Anne Slavin, LBC Associate Director for Education Abroad and Away.

Abigail Carvey and KIerra Jursch are among 12 total Spartan alums and students recently nominated by Michigan State University for the Marshall Scholarship.

LBC alumna Ella Werre graduated in Spring 2025 with a degree in Astrophysics. She received a Fulbright award to conduct research in Bologna, Italy, at the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (the Italian National Institute of Physics)
