“I am writing to share that I have reappointed Dean Cheruvelil for a second 5-year term through 2030,” said Provost Laura Lee McIntyre. “I have the utmost confidence in her and the [5-year] review results have affirmed that.”

This decision follows a comprehensive review process that included surveys, interviews, and community feedback. According to Provost McIntyre, “Dean Cheruvelil was consistently recognized as a values-driven and inclusive leader who leads with authenticity, integrity, and compassion. Colleagues repeatedly highlighted her ability to build community, provide steady leadership during times of change, and her student-centered approach grounded in a strong commitment to advancing the college’s mission and values.”

The review indicated that Dean Cheruvelil is widely regarded as an effective, caring leader who has significantly advanced both the LBC and MSU missions. Feedback from faculty, staff, and students was overwhelmingly positive, affirming her leadership and effectiveness.

I appreciate the trust and confidence that the Briggs community has in me as a leader. It is rewarding to see the results of the work we’ve done to build strong relationships and programs during my first term. I know that the College can accomplish more together during the coming years, and I am honored to continue as Dean.

Dean Cheruvelil’s accomplishments during her first term (2020-2025) include aligning policies, practices, and cultures to support the growth of faculty, staff, and students, using a participatory process to create and implement the 2032 LBC Strategic Plan that guides decision-making and anchors the College’s $12M campaign goals, launching student success programs such as the Briggs Summer Scholars and the First-Year Experience Programs, and elevating LBC student and faculty research with strategic resource allocations and communications.

“I am incredibly grateful for Kendra’s commitment to serving another term as Dean of Lyman Briggs College,” McIntyre added.
