3+4 Program

Osteopathic Medical Scholars Program

The Osteopathic Medical Scholars Program, or OMSP, gives Michigan State University undergraduate students the chance to explore health care, osteopathic medicine and the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). Selected participants can gain early exposure to clinical skills, community involvement and leadership roles. They develop a strong support network of peers who share similar goals, explore personal strengths and weaknesses, and develop a deeper understanding of the osteopathic profession.

Lyman Briggs College has an exclusive agreement with the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine to provide a 3+4 program.

Participants must be admitted to Lyman Briggs College as well as OMSP. In order to take advantage of the 3+4 program students must major in biology in Briggs and can enter medical school during what would be their senior year of college. If academic and program requirements are met, MSUCOM waives the MCAT and interview requirement. Final acceptance into MSUCOM will be determined by successful completion of program requirements, including specific professional development seminars. Upon the completion of the first year of coursework at MSUCOM, participants will be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree.

For more information on admission to the OSMP program, visit the College of Osteopathic Medicine's website.
