Kaitlyn Eberhardt, Biology, with a minor in Anthropology
Harsna Chahal, Neuroscience and Human Biology, with a minor in Science, Technology, Environment and Public Policy
Commencement Address
Farhan Bhatti, MD, CEO and Medical Director of Care Free Medical
Dr. Farhan Bhatti is a board-certified family physician and is currently the CEO and Medical Director of Care Free Medical, a nonprofit organization serving thousands of low-income, underinsured, and uninsured adults and children from across Metro Lansing. Dr. Bhatti completed his residency in the Sparrow Family Medicine program in Lansing. He graduated from Lyman Briggs College with degrees in physiology and political science. He also received his medical degree from the MSU College of Human Medicine.
Dr. Bhatti is not content, however, with simply providing direct medical care. He is a founding member and current board member of the Committee of Protect Health Care, a national political advocacy organization that promotes universal access to healthcare across America. He has appeared on television networks, such as CNN and MSNBC, and he testified at Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court nomination hearings as a public-health expert.

For students maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout their undergraduate careers. 206 total awards were given in Spring 2023, and Lyman Briggs had 27 of them. 6,198 undergraduate students are graduating from MSU this Spring. LBC represents ~5% of graduates, but 13% of Board of Trustees Award winners.

Briggs Ambassadors are a crucial part of LBC’s recruitment efforts. They meet individually, serve on panels, and give tours to future students, serving as representatives for the college and sharing their personal experiences.

Peer Support Leaders
Peer Support Leaders support incoming student enrollment during New Student Orientation over the summer and annual enrollment during the spring semester. They conduct individual and group advising, as well as workshops and social media campaigns.

Peer mentors are matched with new LBC students to receive mentoring during their first semester in Briggs. They help their mentees navigate their first semester of college by hosting group events and one-on-one check-ins, and by facilitating group chats.

Undergraduate Learning Assistants
Learning assistants enrich the student learning experience. They are part of teaching teams across the college, teaching their near-peers important concepts and skills and providing class, lab, and recitation learning support. Approximately 100 Briggsies serve in these important roles in fall and spring semesters.
