Two Briggsies nominated for a prestigious international scholarship

Michigan State University has nominated nine undergraduate students and three alumni for the Marshall Scholarship. The Marshall Scholarship is a prestigious award given to outstanding students in the United States to pursue higher education at any university or approved institution in the United Kingdom. Recipients of this award are selected based on their academic scholarship, leadership abilities, and ambassador potential.  

Nominees are chosen from across a wide range of backgrounds such as science, social sciences, and humanities. This year’s nominees include Briggsies Abigail Carvey and Kierra Jursch. Carvey, pictured below to the left, is a 2025 alum of Lyman Briggs College who majored in neuroscience and is currently a master’s student majoring in pharmacology and toxicology in the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. Jursch, pictured below to the right, is a senior double majoring in biology through Lyman Briggs College and psychology in the College of Social Science.  

Lyman Briggs College congratulates these exceptional candidates who are leaders in their studies and their communities. Results for the Marshall Scholarship will be released in the coming months.
