Peer Advising Assistants

About

Lyman Briggs College Peer Advising Assistants (PAA) are current Briggsies who desire to support the success of their peers, especially first- and second-year students. As third- and fourth-year students, PAAs provide support in exploring co-curricular opportunities, assisting with advising needs, and providing an experienced student perspective.

In addition to one-on-one, walk-in, and group advising, PAAs also assist in facilitating workshops focused on students success.

Appointments with a Peer Advising Assistant (PAA) are made through the Student Success Dashboard. Login at msu.campus.eab.com, click on “Schedule Appointment”, choose “Lyman Briggs Advising” from the first drop-down menu, and “Peer Academic Advising” from the second drop-down, then click ‘Next.” You can choose a time that works in your schedule.

Sonia Khalid

I am a senior majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish. After I graduate, I hope to continue exploring my passion for research before I apply to graduate school. I am currently an undergraduate research assistant through the Department of Physiology, studying the effects of early life adversity on the development of anxiety and depression. Prior to this position, I worked for the Consortium for Multicultural Psychology Research for two years, learning valuable skills like event planning and grant writing. Besides my research related endeavors, I am a member of Neuroscience Club and the Chief of Staff for MSU’s Rotaract Club, an affiliate of Rotary International. I have also tutored students in Lyman Briggs general chemistry. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, exploring, and snuggling cats. If my experiences speak to you, please feel free to schedule an appointment with me! I look forward to meeting you, supporting your success, and recommending cool study locations on campus!

Abby Struble

Hello! I am a junior on the pre-medicine track, majoring in Physiology and minoring in Bioethics and Health Promotion. As a Peer Advising Assistant for Lyman Briggs, I am looking forward to supporting the success of other Lyman Briggs students. I would love to share information and advice for those on the pre-medical/PA track, along with those in other fields of science. In the past few years, I’ve worked as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at a nursing home to gain patient care experience and volunteered at Sparrow Hospital. Regarding clubs, I participated in Tower Guard, am currently participating in Cru and intramural sports, and am on the executive board of ASB (Alternative Spartan Breaks.) Last year, I was an intern researching a diagnostic test for cystic fibrosis. In my free time, I enjoy snuggling my dogs, hammocking, sleeping, and playing sports! If you have any questions, please feel free to schedule an appointment with me. Can’t wait to meet you!
