Peer Mentoring Program
Introduction
We're excited to announce the second year of the Briggs Peer Mentoring Program. This program is designed to build community and help first-year students make connections with their peers.
Each incoming student will be matched with a mentor, who is a current Briggsie, and will have the chance to:
- connect one-on-one with their mentor
- connect with other incoming Briggsies who are in their mentor's cohort (~20 students)
How to Take Part
To be matched with a mentor, students will enroll in the Briggs Connect platform (which is like LinkedIn, designed to connect students with peers and alumni for mentoring and job discussions).
Step 1: Join Briggs Connect
- Visit Briggs Connect's landing page (link opens in new window)
- Use your MSU NetID to log in
- Follow the prompts to create your profile
Step 2: Join the Peer Mentoring Platform
- Visit the Peer Mentoring Program page in Briggs Connect (link opens in new window)
- Select ‘Join’
- Select your role as a ‘Mentee’
- Follow the prompts to create your mentee profile
Step 3: Favorite your mentor choices
- Once you receive confirmation that your profile was approved (usually within 48 hours), return to the Peer Mentoring Program page in Briggs Connect (link opens in new window)
- Click on the ‘Mentors’ tab
- Browse the profiles of the Briggs Peer Mentors and "favorite" up to 3 mentors you think might match your interests. "Favoriting" a mentor does not guarantee that you will be assigned to their group but it does contribute to our matching process!
