Spring 2010 Undergraduate Research Winners

Anita Gopalakrishnan, Junior, LB Nutritional Sciences/Dietetics. Anita will be working with Dr. Jenifer Fenton in the Dept. of Science & Human Nutrition. The title of her research project is Prevention of Colitis and Colon Cancer Uing the Commercial Prebiotic Galactooligosaccharide.

David Ottarson, Senior, LB Microbiology. David will be working with Dr. George Sundin, Genetics. The title of his research is Characterization of the hrpL regulon in the regulation of virulence genes involved in the type III secretion system of Erwinia amylovora 1189.

Jessica Rogner, Senior, LB Human Biology major. Jessica will be working with Lissy Goralnik, Fisheries and Wildlife & Lyman Briggs College. Her research project is entitled Sustainable Eating: An Everyday Environmental Ethic.

Andrew Thompson, Senior, LB Nutritional Sciences major. Andrew will be working with Dr. Kate Claycombe from the Food Science and Human Nutrition Dept. on a project entitled Integrated Research on the Mechanism of Iron Absorption and the Adverse Effects of Obesity Related Inflammation.
