Excellence in Education Fund

Dr. Dutton chaired the committee that would ultimately launch Lyman Briggs College and served as its first Dean. Dr. Dutton’s vision for LBC was to obtain the finest resources necessary to support professors, curriculum and facilities in bringing excellence to undergraduate education.  Donations to this fund support:

  • Lectureships through new and existing endowments.

  • Research grants for faculty scholarships.

  • Development of excellence in curriculum and innovations in teaching.

FREDERIC & FAITH DUTTON ENDOWED LECTURESHIP – Dr. Dutton’s vision for LBC included bringing a program of lectureship to be awarded to promising postdoctoral scholars who demonstrate a passion for undergraduate teaching before they seek career appointments in colleges or universities. (A5254)
CARL & FRANCES B. SCHROTH LECTURE SERIES – Generously supported by Patricia & Mary Schroth to honor their parents, this fund supports lectureships in LBC and Honors College. (A52515)
LBC ARTS ENRICHMENT FUND – Established by Dr. Edward Ingraham, who found his own life enriched by the arts, this Fund encourages LBC to continue to furnish its students with arts related community activities. (A5258)
LBC ENDOWMENT FOR PROGRAM ENHANCEMENT – This Fund allows the College to support research, curriculum improvements, equipment and stipends to support professors, graduate assistants and undergraduate learning assistants. (A52500)
PETRISKO ENHANCEMENT FUND – Graduates of LBC, the Petriskos honor the great educational foundation they received by providing funds for programs, acquisition and/or personnel that will best enhance the mission of LBC.  (A52518)
PETRISKO TEACHING INNOVATION FUND –Graduates of LBC, the Petriskos honor the great educational foundation they received by investing in faculty and teaching innovation. (A52519)
STEVEN T. & ESTHER SPEES LECTURE SERIES – Dr. Spees began his career with LBC in 1967.  He was instrumental in developing a combined chemistry-physics course at LBC.  Dr. Spees now serves as Associate Dean of the College.  This fund supports LBC seminars that would bring speakers of national stature to give lectures and interact with students in Briggs classes.
